Surface 2B

2D

Former designation IIIc or n IIIb or H
Identification

Cold rolled

Heat treated

Pickled

Skin passed

Cold rolled

Annealed

Mechanically descaled
Description The surface 2B is achieved by rerolling a 2D surface. The surface is smooth and slightly reflective. The colour is
evenly grey.

It is the prevalent surface, mainly in areas where it will not be
handled, since finger prints stay visible. It is the most common type to
ensure high corrosion resistance, smoothness and evenness. Grinding,
brushing (1J/2J - 1G/12G), or polishing this surface is possible.
However, titanium alloys can not be polished.

This surface is rougher and dimmer than 2B.

It is preferably used for technical applications. If used in areas in
view a certain susceptibility to fingerprints is to be kept in mind.

Surface 1G/2G 1J / 2J
Former designation IV q
Identification
Ground

Description

Decorative surface in view through grinding. The appearance depends
on the grit size used for grinding. The grinding pattern on this surface
is even. Because of its roughened surface this material is mainly used
for the interior.

Decorative surface in view, finer and more
even than 1G/2G. Preferred area of application: kitchen

Cleaning instructions for the use of protective films:

A first cleaning needs to be done after the assembly of the stainless steel
parts.

Protective paper or film coating or any residue from contact adhesive from the
films are to be fully removed after the assembly. Otherwise these could lead to
corrosion damage.

Please see leaflet 824 “Cleaning of stainless steel” for specific information..
